VIRGINIA VAUGHN   

Virginia Holt Vaughn, a lifetime resident of Rockwall, passed away May 1, 2015, at the age of 86.

She was born Nov. 8, 1928, to Charlie J. and Annie (Davis) Holt. Virginia was a 1946 graduate of Rockwall High School where she was a member of the pep squad. She married the love of her life, J.H. “Rusty” Vaughn. Virginia was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Rockwall for many years and was a dedicated Sunday school teacher. In her later years at Summer Ridge she loved leading a Bible study. Virginia partnered with her husband at Rusty Vaughn Gulf Station in Rockwall, while at the same time serving her community as rural letter carrier for the Rockwall Post Office, retiring after 20-plus devoted years. She enjoyed woodworking, painting, calling Bingo, working puzzles, Chicken Foot, and especially Sunday family lunches. Virginia was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, James Henry “Jimmy” Vaughn and wife Georgia, Rusty Ann Lindop, Mary Grace Frasier and husband Mike and Jessie Cade and husband Dustin; grandchildren Holly Vaughn Steele, Michelle Wooldridge Rister, Tiffany Wooldridge, Brad Wooldridge, Jennifer Wooldridge, Josh Frasier, Haydon Frasier, Lacie Frasier Bryan, Connor Cade and Logan Cade; great-grandchildren Tyler Justin Steele, Georgia Kathryn Steele, U.S. Army Specialist Austin M. Tenery, Tyler Tenery, Marshall Tenery, Kyle Crouch, Gavin Wooldridge, Kaylee Wooldridge, Tatum Wooldridge, Hannah Frank, Hunter Frasier and Lola Grace Frasier; great-great-granddaughter Avery Tenery and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, J.H. “Rusty” Vaughn; her parents, Charlie and Annie Holt; siblings Jefferson Davis Holt, Opal Allene Holt, Frankie Jefferson Holt, Charles William “Petey” Holt and twin brother Virgil “Bud” Holt; grandson Justin H. Vaughn; and great-grandson Landry James Steele.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, at First Baptist Church M.L. Jones Chapel. Interment followed in Rockwall Memorial Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Holt, Jimmy Holt, Charlie Holt, Leslie V. Gray, Charles Edwards, and Jerry Gray.

The family received friends at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
