Jay Arnold (#85) celebrates his fumble recovery with Hawk teammates #7 Kevin Wharry and #19 Raaquan Davis. Arnold put heavy pressure on the handoff between Colonels' QB Trey Porter and RB Marquel McNac, causing a fumble that he recovered on the Colonels' 31 yard line late in the first quarter.

Rockwall-Heath’s unbeaten Hawks will try to make it three-in-a-row tonight when they travel to the Birdville ISD Athletic Complex to square off against the Richland Rebels.

Richland brings a 1-1 record into the game and will attempt to rebound from last week’s 48-7 loss to Class 4A neighbor Birdville.

The Rebels opened their season with a 35-21 victory over Weatherford, but gave up 455 total yards to Birdville and were held to 116 yards rushing and 57 yards passing.

Ken’Travious Richardson scored their only touchdown on an 8-yard run and led Richland with 91 yards on 21 carries.

QB Brandon Maine was 6-of-15 passing for 57 yards and ran seven times for eight yards. Cornelius Carrington caught two passes for 31 yards and Jordan Whitfield hauled in one pass for 18 yards.

The Hawks come into the game with a big 37-28 win over Naaman Forest in Zero Week and a 34-21 victory versus South Garland in Week 1.

QB Chase Schultz led the way in both games, throwing for 353 yards and four touchdowns on 23-of-34 passing against Naaman and 194 yards and four TDs on 18-of-30 against South Garland. He also added 101 yards and two TDs on the ground against Naaman.

WR Shyon Motlagh pulled down three touchdown receptions of five, 15 and nine yards to lead the Hawks to a 24-14 first half advantage and a lead they would carry to the final buzzer.

Texas A&M commit Jay Arnold caused a fumble and recovered it at the South Garland 31-yard line late in the first quarter to set up Motlagh’s first TD that gave RHHS its first lead at 10-7.

Trailing 24-7 after Motlagh’s third first-half TD and a 34-yard field goal by Tyler Pinkston, the Colonels made a strong effort to get back into the game.

RB Marquel McNac, who finished the game with 163 yards rushing, sprinted 74 yards to the Hawks 1-yard line and scored two plays later to narrow the gap to 10 points at 24-14.

South held the Hawks on their next possession and forced a punt. The Colonels drove to the RHHS 21, but missed a field goal just before intermission.

Heath then outscored South 10-7 in the second half on a 19-yard field goal by Ethan Smith and a 38-yard TD pass from Schultz-to-Rashad Johnson for the 34-21 final.

Motlagh ended the game with 75 yards and three TDs on seven catches, Johnson caught 4-for-70 yards and one TD, Rico Henderson hauled in 4-for-32 yards and Jake Fisher grabbed 3-for-17 yards.

Henderson also rushed for 71 yards on 12 carries and Jeremy Armstrong put up 29 yards on four carries for the Hawks.

Smith nailed 4-for-4 PATs and kicked a 19-yard field goal. Pinkston also drilled a 34-yard field goal.
