Rockwall defeated Rockwall-Heath, 16-3 in tennis action at the Heath tennis complex last Friday.

The Rockwall boys swept all six singles matches and all three doubles matches to spark the win.

The Jackets’ No. 1 singles player Brandon Hudson bested Heath No. 1 Cam Probey (3, 2), No. 2 Josh Newman defeated Shannon Lowe (6, 3) and No. 3 Cooper Hayley downed Cole Benge (8, 3).

Also, No. 4 Troy Bruner knocked off Grannis (2, 2), No. 5 Cyrus Sani defeated Ian Lowe (1, 0) and No. 6 Nathan Hogan put up a win over Marshall Howell (0, 0).

In boys’ doubles play, Rockwall’s Newman/Hudson edged Heath’s Lowe/Benge (6, 7/6-2, 10-5), Hayley/Bruner defeated Grannis/Pfliegert (2, 2) and Sani/Hogan bested Howell/Gangeme (0, 0).

Heath’s No. 1 girls’ singles player Emily Kim defeated Rockwall No. 1 Karly Matthews (2, 3), Heath No. 2 Rylie Myers gave the Hawks their second win by knocking off Payton Barker (3, 3), Rockwall No. 3 Sarah Byrom downed H. Davis (1, 1), the Jackets’ No. 4 Courtnee McClain defeated Homesly (8, 0).

Also, RHS No. 5 Brittany Songer beat Thornton (8, 1) and Songer also edged Raquel Price (3, 6/6-4, 12-10).

Heath’s No. 1 girls’ doubles team of Kim/Tunnell defeated Rockwall’s Matthews/McClain (3, 6/7, 6/9-11), the RHS No. 2 team of Crawford/Barker downed Davis/Homesly (3, 1) and the RHS No. 3 team of Byrom/Songer defeated Myers/Price (3, 3).

Heath’s standout freshman Kim had a hand in two of the Hawks’ three victories, winning both her No. 1 singles match and her No. 1 doubles match.
