Hawks touchdown

  The Rockwall-Heath Hawks are 3-0 in football for the first time since the 2013 season.

  The Hawks, who opened the season with a 38-10 thrashing of Keller Timber Creek, outlasted Wylie 44-41 in two overtimes and then cruised to a 47-18 win over Richland last week.

  Zach Evans led the Hawks’ ground attack last week, rushing for 176 yards and three touchdowns. Evans leads the Hawks for the season with 317 yards and five TDs on 50 carries.

  Sophomore quarterback Josh Hoover passed for 208 yards and two TDs against Richland. Hoover has completed 62.3 percent of his passes, going 48 of 77 for 972 yards and 10 touchdowns.

  Wide receiver Jayden Jones, who caught two touchdown passes last week, leads the Hawks in 2019 with 337 yards receiving off 11 catches and five TDs.

  Corbin Cleveland has caught 12 passes for 173 yards and two TDs.

  Trey Graves has 11 catches for 174 yards and one score.

  Casey Curtin is averaging 24 yards per catch with eight receptions for 192 yards.

  Preston Landis has rushed for 54 yards on 15 carries.

  Next on the Hawks’ schedule is a Thursday game at McKinney North. The kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the McKinney ISD Stadium.

  McKinney North’s first three games were high scoring. The Bulldogs topped McKinney 44-42 and Justin Northwest 68-65 but lost 63-49 to Frisco Wakeland.

  McKinney North beat Heath 28-22 last year though the Hawks passed for 330 yards.

  Quarterback Dillon Markiewicz has passed for 1,064 yards and 12 TDs in the Bulldogs’ first three games, completing 59 of 83 attempts.

  Emmanuel Fincher has run for 593 yards on 73 carries to lead North’s rushers.

  Heath will be back at home for homecoming on Sept. 27 against Tyler Lee.
