GEORGETOWN — Rockwall-Heath's Lucas Latimer opened the University Interscholastic League's state golf tournament in medal contention with an opening round of 75 on Monday.

  Latimer slipped back in the standings with an 82 during Tuesday's second round at the Legacy Hills Golf Club to finish in a tie for 52nd place with his total of 157 for 36 holes.

  Adam Villanueva won medalist honors and led Austin Westlake to the team championship with his rounds of 66 and 66 for a 132 total. Ethan Fang of Plano West was second (67-69-136) and Charlie Wylie of Houston Memorial (66-71-137) placed third.

  Austin Westlake carded rounds of 286 and 287 to win with their total of 573. Lake Travis was second (293-285-578) and Houston Memorial (288-295-583) placed third.
