Kaitlyn Stark (left) and Emily Drewery came in 12th and 13th, respectively, to lead the Rockwall girls to their second-place team finish at the Lake Highlands Invitational last Saturday at Norbuck Park.

The Rockwall girls and boys cross country teams finished second and third respectively at the Lake Highlands Invitational at Norbuck Park last Saturday.

The RHS girls, competing without standout Nicole Pugsley, rolled up 78 points for second place after placing five runners in the top 22.

Kaitlyn Stark led the way with her 12th-place finish (21:42.19), Emily Drewery came in 13th (21:50.82), Amanda Thornton finished 19th (22:32.73), Zoe Elledge 20th (22:35.74) and Katie Givens 22nd (22:42.76).

Sarah Rippy also came in 26th (23:14.45) and Alexis Appelquist 70th (26:01.03) for the RHS girls.

Grapevine dominated the meet with its first five runners posting top 10 finishes for 25 points and the Class 4A/5A team championship.

Rockwall’s boys captured third-place honors in a close battle for second place between Lake Highlands (93), Rockwall (96) and Duncanville (97).

Grapevine easily won the championship with all five runners in the top 10 and top runners earning the top three spots for 18 team points.

Rockwall standout Justin Tokuz came in fourth with his time of 16:53.23, Spencer McKee finished ninth (17:20.47), Sam Fox 27th (18:19.95), Jonathan Clem 28th (18:23.22) and Robbie Harmon 35th (18:55.73). Colt Ramsey also ran 19:31.42 for 42nd place.

The Rockwall girls’ junior varsity put up 66 team points for second place and the boys posted 59 points for second place.

Grapevine won both divisions to go with titles in both varsity divisions.
