MESQUITE — Rockwall-Heath is still looking for its first District 11-6A football victory after falling 49-39 to the Mesquite Skeeters on Friday at Hanby Stadium.
The Hawks dropped to 3-3 for the season and 0-2 in district play despite rolling up 456 yards of total offense.
Hawk quarterback Josh Hoover went 30-of-50 passing for 385 yards and three touchdowns. Hoover’s touchdown passes went for 47 and 31 yards to Jayden Jones and for 22 yards to Casey Curtin.
Hoover spread his completions out among six different receivers. Corban Cleveland (8-143) and Jones (8-131) led the way for the Hawks receivers. Curtin finished with seven catches for 87 yards. Also receiving passes were Trey Graves (3-16), Zach Evans (3-3) and Preston Landis (1-3).
Evans led the Hawks’ rushers with 66 yards on 22 carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run.
Preston Landis ran for a 2-yard touchdown.
Mesquite, which improved to 5-1 for the season and 1-1 in district play, racked up 426 yards including 359 yards rushing.
Skeeter running back Ladarius Turner ran for a game-high 215 yards on 27 carries, including scoring runs of 68 and 1 yard.
Mesquite quarterback Dylan Hillard-McGill ran for a 67-yard touchdown and threw for a 20-yard touchdown to Ja’Darion Smith.
R.J. Bonner also ran 39 yards for a Mesquite touchdown.
Mesquite also scored a touchdown after blocking a Heath punt and recovering the ball in the end zone.
