After winning their home football finale 47-31 over Mesquite Horn last week, the 4-5 Rockwall-Heath Hawks will rest on Friday night.
The Hawks, who claimed their first District 11-6A victory in five tries, will take Friday off as a bye. Their final game of the regular season is set for Nov. 7 at North Mesquite.
The Hawks didn’t let a steady rain slow them down too much as they outscored Horn 21-7 in the second half after leading only 26-24 at halftime.
Josh Hoover, who ranks as one of the top 6A passers in the Dallas area, was 14-of-22 passing for 182 yards and five touchdowns. His touchdown passes went for 14 yards to Corban Cleveland, 16 yards to Jayden Jones, 43 yards to Jones, 14 yards to Grant Watson and 27 yards to Cleveland.
Hoover also ran a yard for a touchdown.
Preston Landis led the Hawk rushers with 119 yards on 28 carries.
Cleveland led the Hawk receivers with nine catches for 91 yards. Next were Jones (2-59) and Watson (2-24).
Horn, which dropped to 2-6 for the season and 1-3 in district play, finished with 314 yards of total offense. The Jaguars rushed for 238 yards, led by Ben Wyatt with 94 yards on 14 carries and Charles Crawford with 88 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
Horn quarterback Davazea Gabriel ran for a 1-yard touchdown and was 10-of-33 passing for 76 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown to Derik Johnson Jr.
Both teams scored on interception returns with Marquis Edwards taking a pick back 27 yards for a Horn touchdown and Dezmon Mims returning an interception 39 yards for a Hawk TD.
