After getting their homecoming football game spoiled by Tyler Lee last week, the Rockwall-Heath Hawks will try to ruin Mesquite’s homecoming on Friday.

  The kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Hanby Stadium in Mesquite. Heath is 3-2 for the season, following its 39-34 homecoming loss to Tyler Lee in the District 11-6A opener. Mesquite is 4-1 after suffering its first loss of the season to Mesquite Horn, 35-14 in the Skeeters’ district opener.

  Heath racked up 372 yards of total offense last week against Tyler Lee but gave up 402 yards. Lee quarterback Trent Adams threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns.

  Lee won on a 2-yard touchdown run by Mark Patton with 4:01 remaining.

  Sophomore quarterback Josh Hoover led the Hawks’ offense, completing 13 of 27 passes for 256 yards. Hoover’s touchdown passes went for 42 and 67 yards to Jayden Jones and 6 and 9 yards to Corban Cleveland. Jones led the Hawk receivers with four catches for 140 yards. Cleveland caught four for 64 yards.

 Zach Evans paced the Hawks’ runners with 73 yards on 24 carries and Preston Landis ran for 57 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

  Hoover is now 85-of-144 passing for 1,619 yards and 17 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

  Cleveland has now caught 25 passes for 330 yards and four TDs and Jones has caught 20 for 669 yards and eight TDs.

  Evans tops the Hawks’ rushers with 513 yards and seven TDs on 90 carries.

  Mesquite gave up 495 yards to Horn in last week’s loss, including 306 yards rushing.

  The Skeeters finished with 284 total yards. Quarterback Dylan Hillard-McGill was 7-of-28 passing for 86 yards and rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Hillard-McGill has thrown for 592 yards and four TDs this season and has rushed for 328 yards and four TDs.

  LaDarius Turner led the Skeeter rushers against Horn with 77 yards on 17 carries. He’s rushed for a team-high 488 yards and seven TDs on 51 carries.

  Ja’Darion Smith leads the Skeeter receivers with 12 catches for 180 yards and two TDs.

  Mesquite, which was a 5-5 team last year, lost 6-4 to Heath last year in a wild game in Rockwall. Mesquite scored its four points on a pair of safeties in the first quarter.
