Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath swimmers competed in their first invitational meet of the 2013-2014 season at the Frisco ISD Sprint Invitational last Saturday at the Frisco ISD Natatorium.
The Heath boys put up 178 points for fourth place at the prestigious invite and the Rockwall boys placed ninth with 123 points.
In the girls’ competition, Rockwall finished 10th with 102 points and Heath came in 14th with 51 team points.
Rockwall’s Raena Eldridge led RISD swimmers with two individual gold medals. She won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.09 and the 50-yard butterfly with a new meet record of 26.22. She also swam legs on the fifth-place 100 free relay and ninth-place 200 free relay.
Heath’s Jared Butler captured gold in the 100-yard IM (54.64), finished second in the 50-yard backstroke (25.56) and swam legs on the second-place 100 free relay and third-place 200 free relay.
William Rapp, of Rockwall, posted second-place individual finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (50.53) and 200-yard freestyle (1:50.43).
Heath’s Bridget Griesbach finished third in the 200 freestyle (2:07.14) and ninth in the 100 IM (1:09.55) and Harper Gillentine came in seventh in the 100 freestyle (58.41).
Nathaniel Wang picked up a seventh place in the 50 fly (25.89) and ninth place in the 100 freestyle (53.38), Eliseo Villarreal finished seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:56.06), Kyle Butler claimed eighth place in the 50 breaststroke (31.91) and Evan Perlitz came in 10th in the 100 freestyle (53.81).
Rockwall’s Noah Day finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (51.49) and eighth in the 50 fly (25.93) and Hope Wallace came in eighth in the 25 freestyle (13.51).
In relay swims, the Heath boys’ 100-yard freestyle team of Jared Butler, Jeffrey Caddell, Evan Perlitz and Spencer Vaughan finished second with a time of 43.36.
The 200-yard freestyle team of Butler, Wang, Villarreal and Perlitz swam 1:33.95 for third place and the 100 medley team of Wang, James Warren, Villarreal and Kyle Butler came in 10th with its 51.52.
The Rockwall boys’ 100-yard freestyle team of Mitchell Eldridge, Noah Day, Nicholas Stencel and William Rapp clocked 43.65 for third place and the 200 freestyle team of Eric Harbin, Day, Rapp and Stencel came in seventh with its time of 1:37.10.
The Rockwall girls’ 100 freestyle team of Morgan Barnes, Eldridge, Rebecca Voth and Megan Conner claimed fifth place with its 51.23 and the 200 freestyle team of Conner, Eldridge, Kayla Maxwell and Summer Scown came in ninth with a time of 1:53.83.
Frisco ran away with both the girls and boys championships, chalking up 515 points on the girls’ side and 364 in the boys.
