With Thanksgiving now over, the countdown to Christmas is in full swing and there are events throughout Rockwall County marking the days left until the arrival of jolly, old Santa Claus, starting next week.

• On Dec. 6, the Heath Holiday Home Tour will feature five homes decked out in holiday decorations that will be open for self-guided tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tour will also feature live entertainment and raffle drawings. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door of each home on the day of the event. Tickets are available at Rockwall-Heath High School, Bella’s House, Heath Salon & Spa, Bunches and Regal Realtors. Proceeds benefit the RHHS Class of 2020’s after-prom party at Shenanigans in Rockwall.

• Also on Dec. 6, the city of Fate will host its community Christmas tree lighting from 6-8 p.m. at Fate City Hall, 1900 C.D. Boren Pkwy. The free event will feature food, crafts and more. Visit cityoffate.com/christmastreelighting to volunteer or for more information. 

• On Dec. 7, the Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County kicks off its annual “Golden Christmas Memories” Christmas Parade at 9 a.m. and will feature Christmas-themed floats from area nonprofits, businesses and more. For more information, visit rockwallkiwanis.org.  

• Also on Dec. 7, Christmas will takeover Downtown Rockwall during “Hometown Christmas.” The event, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature Santa Claus, a skating rink, food trucks and more throughout the downtown area. In the evening, Rockwall Parks and Recreation will have a Christmas tree lighting event from 6-8 p.m. at Rockwall City Hall, 385 S. Goliad St. Attendees will be able to create their ornaments and holiday decorations and holiday treats, all for free. 

• On Dec. 13-14, The Downtown Rockwall Association hosts the Second Annual Holiday Home Tour, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Tickets for the holiday home tour are $20 and can be purchased at Enjoy, Bella’s House and Bunches.

• Also on Dec. 14, The Rockwall Police Officers Association is hosting its Fourth Annual “Santa Cops 4 Kids” 5K and one-mile “fun run” beginning with registration at 7 a.m. and the race at 8 a.m. at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium, 1201 T L Townsend Drive in Rockwall. • Lastly, on Dec. 14, Wreaths Across America has joined with Rest Haven Funeral Home and Memorial Park to remember and honor veterans who have passed away. Wreaths will be laid at the graves of the fallen veterans in a ceremony starting at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 2005 Hwy 66 E. in Rockwall.
