If pre-election preparation is any indicator, it may well be a busy election night at the Rockwall County polls.

Between the March primaries, and the Oct. 6 voter registration deadline for the November presidential election, the Rockwall County registered voter roll has grown by at least 10 percent.

This brings to 45,378 the number of Rockwall County citizens able to begin casting ballots on Monday, in early voting.

That is up 4,480 from the total of registrants for the March primaries.

The number of people eligible to vote in March was 40,898, it was learned then. Primaries for each major party, Democrat and Republican, pulled 20 percent of that total into the voting booths.

About 200 more Democrats voted than Republicans in the primaries: the Democrats with 7,915, and the Republicans, 7,741.

Total voters registered for the year 2008, from Jan. 1 through Oct. 6, through the Rockwall County Elections Office are 5,769, according to the Office on Tuesday.
