The Rockwall Chamber of Commerce will bring the first Rockwall Boat Show to The Harbor on Sept. 28-29. The weekend event will feature on land and in the water shows with both new and vintage boats, as well as performances from the Metroplex Mavericks Show Ski Team.
Sponsored by the Dallas Morning News, the event will showcase a variety of antique watercraft from exhibitors of the Wooden Boat Association of North Texas.
Members of the WBA have also collected and restored a couple of unique brands in Yellow Jacket and Willis, which will also be on display. Yellow Jacket Boats were a popular brand of plywood boat made in Denison between 1949 and 1959, and racing boat specialist Willis Boat Works of Dallas had its boat plant near Fair Park from the 1930s to the early 1960s.
Sailing lessons with the North Texas Sailing School will also be provided to those attending the show. A live DJ will also be throwing out some tunes from The Harbor Amphitheater.
For out-of-towners wishing to attend the event, lodging is available at the Hilton located within the Harbor, as well as the Hampton Inn, La Quinta Inn & Suites, Best Western Plus Rockwall Inn & Suites, and Super 8 Rockwall. Special boat show packages starting at $99 will also be offered at these hotels.
Show hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased online at visitrockwall.com/boatshow.
