Rockwall may soon be home to a new shopping center.

A public hearing is scheduled this month during an upcoming meeting of the Rockwall Planning and Zoning Commission on the proposal.

Bowen Hendrix of DuWest Realty, on behalf of John Arnold of the Skorburg Company is seeking approval of a Development Plan for a general retail development/shopping center, on an 8.63 acre tract of a larger 36 acre parcel of land which has already been zoned for a Planned Development District.

The site is located within the North State Highway 205 Overlay, on the northeast corner of the intersection of E. Quail Run Road and N. Goliad Street/State Highway 205.

An overlay district is used to establish alternative land development requirements within a specific area. Regulations added under an overlay zoning district do not immediately apply to existing businesses, but will to any future developments which locate within the district.

The public hearing is scheduled during the Commission’s meeting starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20 in the Council Chambers at Rockwall City Hall, 385. S. Goliad Street.
