On Monday, Feb. 7, a Rockwall County jury returned a verdict of guilty against Louisiana resident, Roy Duval Green, 23, on the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The jury subsequently sentenced Mr. Green to 20 years in prison. Rockwall County Criminal District Attorney Kenda Culpepper, who noted that the trial was delayed for several days because of last week’s ice and snow, said “We appreciate the efforts of the jury over the last week and are pleased that they sent Mr. Green to prison for a lengthy sentence.”
Suzanne Fichtel, lead prosecutor in the case, said Green was caught driving down I-30 with 111.39 grams of cocaine in a rental car.
During the trial, testimony revealed that the street value of the cocaine seized was over $25,000.
