The number of people hospitalized due to COVOD-19 in the North Texas region continues to fall, although there was a slight increase in patients reported in Rockwall County during the past week.
The number of people being vaccinated against COVID-19 also slowed down over the prior reports.
The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E, a 19-county region of North Texas, which includes Rockwall County, reported 2.2 percent of their patient populations were due to COVID-19 as of Monday, compared to 2.7 percent one week earlier.
Nine people were listed in Rockwall County hospitals due to the virus as of Wednesday, three more than the week earlier. Two patients were reported to be in the ICU, one more than the previous week.
There had been 157 deaths reported in Rockwall County due to COVID-19 as of Wednesday, unchanged drink the past two weeks.
A report from the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Mangement indicated there had been 9,498 cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Rockwall County as of Wednesday, an increase of 17 cases in one week’s time.
There had been 9,312 estimated recoveries, representing an increase of 12 individuals within the previous seven days.
As of Wednesday, 45,785 Rockwall County residents had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, an increase of 19 people in one week, after 1,625 people were vaccinated in the county during the previous week
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that as of Wednesday, 53.93% of Rockwall County residents aged 12 or older had received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 43.06% being fully vaccinated.
The state agency’s report indicated that 85.79% of those residents in Rockwall County aged 65 and above had received at least the first dose of the vaccine, with 75.11% of the older population having been fully vaccinated as of Wednesday.
