Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper has been appointed as an attorney pro tem for the March 29 incident in which Hunt County District Attorney Noble Walker struck an elementary crossing guard in Greenville.
Jewell Christine Sandlin spent a week at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, before dying from injuries on April 11. She was 87.
“I was appointed as an Attorney Pro Tem (Special Prosecutor) by Kaufman County District Judge B. Michael Chitty to conduct an independent review of the case,” Culpepper said. “I asked the Texas Rangers to join me in this investigation. My team and I have interviewed numerous officers, medical personnel, civilian witnesses, and family members of the deceased who have information relevant to the case. We are now prepared to present our findings to a Hunt County Grand Jury.”
