This summer's children's musical at the Rockwall Community Playhouse will be "James and the Giant Peach," a 2010 adaptation of the 1961 children's classic written by Roald Dahl.
Max Watson plays James Trotter, a 4-year-old orphan who finds escape from his exploitive caretaker aunts and meets a musical group of humanoid insects inside the seed of a giant peach that grows in his backyard.
Darlene Singleton directs a large ensemble cast. Other young actors cast in key roles are Nhira Iverson (Landahlord), Aiden Koop (Grasshopper), Ava Lefere (Ladybug) and teenagers Ava Diesch and Eliza Lane as Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge.
The production will run for six days beginning June 19. The final performance on June 24 will be a 2 p.m. matinee with all other curtains at 7 p.m. Tockets are $9 for all seats and all ages. The Playhouse website is rockwallcommunityplayhouse.org.
