Rockwall County continues to see significant increases in the numbers of deaths connected to COVID-19.
The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management was reporting Tuesday the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity in the 19-county Trauma Service Area of North Texas that includes Rockwall County had reached 18.8 percent as of Sunday, which means restrictions on certain businesses because of the virus will continue to remain in place.
The latest report from the department indicated there had been 4,390 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, an increase of 350 cases in one week. The department’s report also noted there had been 4,021 recoveries, representing an increase of 332 individuals within the previous seven days.
There had been 45 deaths reported in the county as a result of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, three more than one week earlier and representing seven deaths from the virus in two weeks.
The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management reported there were 74 people in the county’s hospitals suffering from COVID-19 as of Tuesday, including 14 patients in the ICU.
The Texas Department of State Health Services indicated there had been 42,936 COVID-19 tests conducted in the county as of press time Tuesday.
