• A Christmas lighted boat parade is scheduled for Saturday evening on Lake Ray Hubbard. Anyone with a boat is invited to participate in the event, as long as it is brightly decorated. The boats will leave the Sapphire No Wake Entrance at 6:30 p.m., proceed along the shore of Interstate 30, pass by The Harbor and then by Chandlers Landing, turn around and do a second pass in front of The Harbor and then the boats can return to their respective docks. Viewing for the parade is expected to be optimal at The Harbor at around 7 p.m. and Chandlers about 7:30 p.m.

• Volunteers and sponsors are being sought for an effort to make sure veterans buried in a local cemetery remembered this Christmas.

Rest Haven Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2005 Highway 66 East in Rockwall has scheduled a Wreaths Across Across America ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Dec.19. A grave prep day is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday. Before the wreath laying each veteran’s grave has to be marked on a map so volunteers can mark each with a white utility flag and upright vases. The cemetery has almost 1,000 veteran graves. Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization with a mission of remembering, honoring and teaching and is expected to conduct more than 1,600 similar events on National Wreaths Across America Day. • The Santa Cops 4 Kids benefit is scheduled the morning of Dec. 19 at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium, 1215 T L Townsend Drive in Rockwall. The event was formed in 2016 by members of the Rockwall Police Department and Rockwall Police Officers Association. The goal of Santa Cops 4 Kids is to further the efforts of the Children's Advocacy Center of Rockwall County by raising awareness about child abuse as well as raise funds for the Rockwall County Children's Advocacy Center, through a 5K, 10K and 1 mile family fun run. Since 2016, Santa Cops 4 Kids raised over $65,000 to further the efforts of the Children's Advocacy Center of Rockwall County. • Unfortunately, the City of Heath Holiday in the Park celebration is on hiatus because of COVID-19. But Towne Center Park is still offering all new lights and horse-drawn carriage rides starting at 6 p.m. Thursdays to Sundays until Dec. 27. Rides are $50 each and must be booked online. Drivers will be wearing masks and the carriages will be cleaned between each ride. Carriages hold four average-size adults, or two adults with children.
