In 2001, she became managing partner for her family’s business, Mitchell Property and Investments, Now, Duran is working with The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children as a certified trainer and consultant where she has authored an online course for the certification of trauma and loss specialists.
In her career as an educator, Duran said after her election victory, she has “touched the lives of a lot of people and I plan to touch a lot more.”
A priority as a board member, she said, will be teacher pay.
Duran said she will speak up and ask questions in an attempt to “do as much as we can for teachers without hurting our budget.”
