RISD softball teams place 16 on all-district team

ROCKWALL — Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath softball teams placed a combined 16 players on the All-District 12-5A team announced last week by the coaches in the district.

Rockwall junior first baseman Bailey Wallace was selected Most Valuable Player and Heath senior third baseman Lauren Archuleta was named Defensive Player of the Year to lead their respective teams.

Class 5A regional finalist Rockwall put junior pitcher Emily Cowan, junior catcher Hayley Baker and junior outfielder Peyton Mills on the first team and junior outfielder Kindal Sauter, sophomore outfielder Alyssa Henry, junior second baseman Jocelyn Myers and sophomore shortstop Dani Greenlee on the second team.

Joining Archuleta for area-finalist Heath were freshman pitcher Cami Duffey, junior shortstop Katie Webster, sophomore catcher Ally Brandvold and senior outfielder Savannah Calhoun on the first team, and freshman first baseman Emily Clark on the second team.

Honorable mention picks for Rockwall included Shelbi Court, Mallory Taylor, Savannah Cassady and Jalima Willard. Megan Ford, Macy Wilson and Mikki Westmoreland received honorable mention for Heath.
