RHS taking on HP for Homecoming

ROCKWALL —   After winning their first game of the season two weeks ago and having a bye week to prepare, Rockwall’s Yellowjackets will attempt to knock off undefeated No. 2 area-ranked Highland Park before a homecoming crowd at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium tonight.

The Scots will bring their 3-0 record to WSS with high hopes of kicking off District 10-4A action with a win and continuing their undefeated streak.

HP is averaging 50 points per game and 464 yards total offense after defeating Everman 48-28, Monterrey Tec (Mex.) 46-7 and Sherman 56-14.

QB Brady Burgin is ranked fourth in the Class 4A area rankings in passing with 768 yards and 11 touchdowns on 59-of-78 passes.

William Morris is sixth in receiving with 22 receptions for 298 yards and six TDs and Dalton Stogner is ninth with 20 catches for 255 yards and three TDs.

RB Preston Miller is among the leaders in rushing with 387 yards and six TDs on 32 carries and is ranked sixth in scoring with 42 points for the Scots prolific offense.

Rockwall’s Wesley Davis and Andrew Hinckley put up all the points in the Jackets first win two weeks ago, a 21-10 victory over Royse City, and look to carry their performances into tonight’s battle against Highland Park.

Hinckley intercepted three passes against Royse City, scored on a 21-yard TD reception and kicked an extra point.

QB Davis rushed for 66 yards and two TDs on 15 carries and completed 14-of-23 passes for 210 yards and one TD.

Davis is among the Class 4A leaders in passing with 490 yards and two TDs on 41-of-66 passes. He also leads the Jackets in rushing with 194 yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries. Alex Ntchobo is second with 16 carries for 147 yards.

Hinckley tops RHS receivers for the season with 124 yards and one TD on 14 catches, Zach Berryman has 112 yards on nine receptions and Coan Calabrese has five catches for 79 yards and one TD.

In the kicking game Hinckley is 2-for-2 on field goals and 3-for-3 on PATs and Tyler Bonny is 3-for-3 on PATs.

Rockwall held its homecoming parade from the high school to WSS on Thursday. Today’s activities feature a pep rally at 12:35 p.m., a senior class hamburger cookout outside WSS before the game and the presentation of royalty at approximately 6:50 p.m. with the crowning of the 2011 Homecoming Queen and King just before game time.
