The first round of the UIL's 6A baseball playoffs got off to rough start on the road with Game 1 losses in best-of-three series for both Rockwall-Heath and Rockwall Thursday night.

Heath was limited to four hits in a 7-4 loss at College Park while Rockwall took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning at The Woodlands only to drop a 5-2 decision after the Highlanders plated four runs in the sixth.

Jake Wade had two hits and three RBI for Heath, but the Hawks' bats were silent after the second inning against College Park pitcher Brandon Garza, who blanked Heath over the last five innings.

Bennett Laurence had two hits to lead Rockwall's offense against The Woodlands.

Both teams are at home Friday night for Game 2, with first pitches at 7 p.m. ar both Rockwall and Heath.  If third games are needed, Heath will face College Park on Saturday at Lufkin Judson High at 2 p.m., while Rockwall and The Woodlands would meet at noon at Tillery Field in Mesquite.
