Hawk golfers advance to regionals

The RHHS Varsity Black Boys golf team finished second in the District 10-4A tournament at Waterview Golf Course.

The two-day district event ended Tuesday. RHHS was in third place behind Highland Park and Richardson Pearce after day one, but came back strong on the second day to pass Pearce and advance to the Regional tournament that will be played at Robson Ranch in Denton on April 23-24.

Highland Park's Blue team won a one hole playoff with Peace to finish third. The Hawks end a Highland Park streak, in that this marks the first time in nine years that Highland Park will not advance two teams to regionals.

Freshman Corbin Renner finished seventh individually with rounds of 77-73, and junior CJ Clem finished eighth with 73-78. Also, the Boys Varsity Red team finished fifth, out of a total of 14 teams. Red team members are Jake Rogers, Tyler Grubbs, Brent Reagan, Michael Gerrison and Beau Dicus.
