Rockwall high school girls tracksters place third at Allen

ALLEN - Rockwall's girls track team relied on three individual gold-medal performances and one first-place relay finish to claim third-place honors at the Allen Relays on Saturday.

The ladies chalked up 121 points for third place behind champion Allen's 173 points and second-place Coppell's 152.

Shelby Kennard set the tone early by winning her third straight invitational pole vault title with a leap of 12-0.

Alicia Janke finished second for the Lady Jackets with a personal-best vault of 10-0.

Distance standout Katie Roland won the 3200 with her time of 12:11 and finished second in the 1600 with a 5:42 clocking.

Ariel Coleman captured Rockwall's third individual gold with her season-best 46.53 in the 300 Hurdles.

The team of Janke, Kennard, Sade King and Raven Turner won the 800 Relay with a time of 1:48.59.

Ryan Hughes and Grant Gunderson vaulted 14-6 to tie for first in the boys pole vault, with Hughes awarded first on number of attempts.

The Rockwall boys finished sixth in the team standings with 40 points.
