Ellison King Slaughter of Rockwall passed away March 23, 2013.

He was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Edgewood, to Ellis Miles and Jennie May King Slaughter.

Mr. Slaughter was a graduate of Edgewood High School and a 1949 graduate of the University of Texas School of Pharmacy.

He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Slaughter married Helena Durica on Dec. 26, 1944, in Dallas.

He was co-owner of Rockwall Drug with Richard Earl Slaughter until 1980 and a lifelong member of the Texas Pharmacy Association. Mr. Slaughter was congressional aide to Congressman Ralph M. Hall for 24 years.

He was a member of the Rockwall Independent School Board, the Rockwall City Council, Rotary Club International and the American Legion. Mr. Slaughter was also on the Board of Directors of Lakeside National Bank. He was a Master Mason for more than 50 years and a longtime member of Shriners International as well.

Mr. Slaughter never lost his love of flying and started what is now known as Ralph M. Hall International Airport.

Since moving to Rockwall in 1952 he has been a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Slaughter is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helena Slaughter of Rockwall; daughters, Robin Leah Stewart of Dallas, Susan Marie Roberts of Farmers Branch, and Shula Beth Watkins and husband Billy Frank of Caddo Mills; son, Eldon Miles Slaughter and wife Sucema of Clear Lake; five grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., March 26 at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellowjacket Lane, Rockwall, with Dr. Joe Pool and Rev. Beth LaBella-Foster officiating.

A night of remembrance was on March 25 at the funeral home from.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.
