Roy Allman



Roy C. Allman, 82, of Rockwall died Jan. 29, 2009.

He was born April 15, 1926, in Wylie to Roy and Madge (Kilgore) Allman. Mr. Allman proudly served his country in the United States Navy in World War II and Korea. He retired from the U.S. Postal service in 1983 with 35 years of service in Dallas. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockwall, as well as the Masonic Lodge 328 in Yantis and the Shriner’s of Dallas.

Mr. Allman is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jean Allman of Rockwall; sons Mike Allman of Canton and Ronnie Allman and wife Gay of Tyler; a brother, James Allman of Silver Hill, Ala.; stepsons Mike Heard and wife Patsy of Rockwall and Ricky Heard and wife Nancy of Forney; grandchildren Mike, Mark, Ronnie Jr., Chad, Hanna, Melissa and Jeremy Allman, Mindy Smith, Heather Darden, Marcie Beaty, Gina Schoch, Richard and David Heard and Caroline Allison; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Allman in 1970, and his parents.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Jan. 31, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Rev. Shannon Hassell of Yantis Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.

Phillip Mann



Phillip D. Mann, 71, of Rockwall died Jan. 23, 2009.

He was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Tallassee, Ala., to Raymond and Marjorie (Berry) Mann. Phillip served his country in the U.S. Navy. A musician at heart, he was a member of the National Bluegrass Association and designed and created his Web site: phil@bluegrassbanjo.org. He was also a talented photographer. Phillip loved to fish and once caught a 9-pounder. He had a great sense of humor and was full of smiles and laughter and is remembered by his family and friends as a very warm man who blessed their lives.
