William Scott
William Ben Scott was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Ladonia, son of Claudia Refugee Reynolds and Vernon Scott. Ben was a graduate of Clark High School in Ladonia and Texas College in Tyler where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1960. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Grove CME. Inspiring many lives, Ben was honorably discharged from the Army after serving in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Masonic Brotherhood.
He leaves his legacy to his son Derrick Darrell Scott of Rockwall; a daughter, Annita Jan Scott of Fort Worth; a sister, Claudia Askew of Ladonia; four grandsons, Mose Scott Jr. IV, Derrick Terrell Scott, Carson Darrell Scott and Kaden Darrell Scott; two granddaughters, Ameisha Scott and Akinthia Scott; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., May 17, in the Pleasant Grove C.M.E. in Ladonia with Rev. Mitchell Scott officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Grace & Mercy-Grundy Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.

‘Ronnie’ Ford
Ronald “Ronnie” Ford, 60, of Rockwall died May 15, 2008, following complications from surgery.
He was born July 5, 1947, in Indepe-ndence, Mo., to Melvin and Mary (Julian) Ford. Ronnie married Joyce Allmon in 1969, and together they raised daughter April and son Marc. He was a hardworking man, and his family was the pride and joy of his life. Ronnie loved gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Rockwall; a daughter, April Klics and husband Rick of Rowlett; son Marc Ford and wife Misty of Rockwall; and grandchildren Taylor Thompson, Zoey Ford and Noah Ford.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter Neely Ford.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., May 19 in Rest Haven Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Swofford officiating.

A.W. Aston
A.W. Aston, 93, of Rockwall died May 17, 2008, at the Rockwall Nursing Center. Graveside services were at 1 p.m., May 19, at Lynch Cemetery with Preston Boles officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home in Lone Oak.
Born Nov. 11, 1914 in Mabank, Mr. Aston was the son of Samuel and Eva Annie Grant Aston. In 1942, he married Wilma Louise Aston. Mr. Aston was a member of the Church of Christ and was a machinist.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years; a son, David and wife Patricia Aston of Caddo Mills; two daughters, Linda and husband Ben Marshall of Arlington and Brenda and husband Jim Boles of Sulphur Springs; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Aston was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jeff Aston; his sister, Golda Lyons; and his granddaughter, Ciji Boles.

Robin Nichols
Robin Wayne Nichols, 55, of Rockwall died May 17, 2008.
He was born Jan. 31, 1953, in Alton, Ill. Robin was a resident of Rockwall for 25 years and a member of Lakeshore Church. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and made his career in construction. Robin enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, remodeling his home and spending time in the garden. But his greatest enjoyment was his family and his Mastiffs Moody and Harley and spending time with them.
Robin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda Nichols ; daughters Kacey, Kinsey and Kelly Nichols and her fiancé Kevin Rucker; sons Cory and Chris Nichols; his parents, Marvin and Betty Nichols; a brother, Randy Nichols and wife Linda; sister Debbie Strebel and husband John; grandsons Hayden and Taylor Nichols; mother-in-law Sandra Jean Rose; and numerous family and friends.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., May 20, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel.

Goldie Steele
Goldie Mae Steele, 74, of Fate died May 19, 2008.
She was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., to Andrew and Willie (White) Gilbert. Mrs. Steele was a seamstress and a member of First Baptist Church of Fate.
She is survived by her sons, A.W. Steele and wife Diann of Lavon, Henry Steele and wife Linda of Murchison, and Larry Steele and wife Nanette of Kemp; daughters Deborah Conway and husband Pat of Nevada, and Brenda Richerson and husband Mike of Quinlan; a son-in-law, T.J. Sipes of Ecru, Miss.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece, Glenda Power of Houston; five brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Steele Sr.; a daughter, Ferrol Sipes; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. today at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Rev. Billy Norris officiating. Interment follows in Restland Memorial Park, 9220 Restland Rd., Dallas.

‘Poppy’ Fay
Carolyn R. “Poppy” Fay, 88, of Rockwall died May 20, 2008.
She was born July 4, 1919, in Franklin County to James Murphy and Margaret Ruth (Rowland) Popplewell. Mrs. Fay was an expert seamstress and quilt-maker, and enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She was a former accountant for Collins-Rockwell, (now part of Boeing.) Her classmates at Adamson High School in Oak Cliff entered this quote about her in the high school year book in 1936: “A steady soul, that yields to rule, and quite ingenious, too, at school.”
Mrs. Fay is survived by her son, John R. Fay and wife Vikki of Garland; a daughter, Lynne Brez and husband Ray of Fountain Valley, Calif.; grandson Sean Patrick Fay and wife Jill of Fate; granddaughter Wendi Brez of Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren Charlotte Grace Fay and Caleb Christian Fay; and sisters Bernice Evans of Corpus Christi and Mary Beth McNulty and husband Charles of Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Leo Fay; and two brothers.
Services will be held at a later date.
