Margaret McNaughton
Margaret Jean (Donelson) McNaughton, 58, of Heath died Feb. 7, 2008.
She was born Sept. 26, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo., to Ray and Mary (Bennett) Donelson. Margaret’s loving, caring personality was reflected in many of her life’s choices. She loved her family first followed by reading, gardening, cooking and picnics. While raising her family in Alaska she earned a master of science degree in nursing and worked in the community for many years. A lover of nature, she never willingly missed an outdoor adventure. The legacy of her gardens graces homes in which she lived in Alaska, Washington and Texas. Her interest in fiber arts led her to spinning and weaving in addition to her sewing and knitting. Always thinking (she lived in her head), yet fun and funny. She had her priorities of life firmly in view. “Take care of living things first and then those things we can’t do again.” Nurse Maggie’s pursuit of grace will be remembered by many.
Her legacy lives in her sons, now grown into fine men, both of whom she is very proud, and in her 27-year marriage to a man who has been her rock — a man who has never waivered in his love and gentle caring. For all of us she lives in our heads and in our hearts where a person’s spirit and soul never die and their love never ends.
She has shown patience, strength and courage during her illness; and now, as Margaret liked to tell us, “She has slipped her leash” and is finally free.
She is survived by her husband, David McNaughton of Heath; sons Steven Rigler of Amherst, Mass., and Michael McNaughton of Redway, Calif.; a brother, Ray Donelson of Richmond, Mo. sisters Mary Adams and husband Joel of North Bend, Wash., Lois Dawkins of Bothell, Wash., and Joyce Steen and husband Paul of The Woodlands.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Feb. 12, at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall.
The family requests that consideration be given to an online contribution to www.psp.org in Margaret’s name to help find a cure.
Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall chapel was in charge of arrangements.
