June 27 is Clean Air Action Day

North Texas residents are encouraged to participate in Air North Texas’ Clean Air Action Day in an effort to do more for clean air by reducing pollution and congestion.

Clean Air Action Day will be on the first Friday of summer, June 27. North Texas residents are encouraged to do something extra for clean air, whether it is an alternative mode of transportation to work, adjusting Friday night plans or making energy efficient changes. All of these can reduce pollution damaging to the ozone.

Residents are asked to do one of the following on June 27:

• Carpool

• Use mass transit

• Bike or walk

• Telecommute

• Take lunch to work or activities

• Maintain consistent driving speeds and avoid quick accelerations and/or hard braking

• Avoid idling

• Combine trips or drive less

In addition to the driving and transportation tips, residents are encouraged to switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, pursue energy efficient home improvement projects and encourage friends, neighbors and relatives to make clean air choices.
